The BEST (Bergeron Entrepreneurs in Science and Technology) program supports entrepreneurial programs and initiatives at Lassonde focused on enabling engineering students to develop business skills and understand what it takes to launch a start up enterprise. BEST is a unique partnership with Lassonde School of Engineering, Schulich School of Business and Osgoode Law School. BEST offers various programs including the BEST Certificate in Technology Entrepreneurship, BEST Awards, International Experiences, BEST Series of Workshops, BEST Lab (that is a space where students can join to further explore their business ideas and get supports from the BEST Community) and much more.

The Civil Engineering Graduate Student Association (CEGSA) represents and advocates for the collective
interests of Civil Engineering graduate students in all matters of departmental policy and action at York
University. The CEGSA seeks to build community among the graduate students, faculty, and others at
the university, with consideration for diverse experiences and interests. Above all, the CEGSA works to
optimize the environment within which graduate students develop, both professionally and personally.

Computing Students Hub, abbreviated as CSHub, is a club that serves to promote undergraduate students in the programs of study: Computer Science, Digital Media, Computer Engineering, and Software Engineering, as well as students in other programs with interest in computer science. As such, the club exists as a platform that represents students to the Faculty and the University, as well as a platform that encourages cooperation and communication between students.

The Lassonde Engineering Society (LES) is a student run organization that represents engineering undergraduates in the Lassonde School of Engineering at York University. LES is governed by a student-elected Board of Directors that consists of 8 Executives, 7 Program Reps, 3 Associate Vice-Presidents and 4 First Year Representatives. We also run various committees that are integral to carry out various initiatives on behalf of our engineering student members.

At LES, our mission is to provide services that enriches their engineering experience, as well as advocate on behalf of the student population to the faculty, school and our external partners. Throughout the year, we host various academic, social and professional development events. Our events portfolio ranges from pub nights, to the largest engineering competition in Canada, the York Engineering Competition.

We are a proud member of the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students (CFES) as well as the Engineering Student Societies' Council of Ontario (ESSCO). These organizations represent the interests of engineering societies provincially and nationally, as well as provide an opportunities for engineering students across Canada to connect and collaborate.

The Lassonde Satellite Club is the York University representative for the bi-annual Canadian Satellite Design Competition. This club provides students of all disciplines an opportunity to develop hands on technical skills. Members will learn how to design, prototype, test, and assemble a cubesat. Students will get experience working in software, RF communications, mechanical, electrical, and ACS teams. LASSAT is an open learning environment for students of all skill levels and backgrounds.

The technology-enhanced, experiential, and active learning (TEAL) committee is a joint subcommittee of the Lassonde Faculty Council Learning, Curriculum and Students (LCS) Committee and the Lassonde Faculty Council Planning, Academic Resources & Research (PARR) Committee. The TEAL committee is responsible for initiating, developing and promoting technology-enhanced learning, eLearning, experiential education, and active learning in the Lassonde School of Engineering.

2.1 TEAL initiates advances in teaching and learning, by identifying relevant best-practices and innovative approaches & technologies (at York and globally) that are likely to enhance student learning in line with Lassonde's academic priorities. TEAL will evaluate initiatives to: assess their likely impact, identify implementation resource requirements, and align with Lassonde academic priorities, to make implementation recommendations.
2.2. TEAL encourages and supports faculty-led initiatives about eLearning, experiential education and active learning. This includes facilitating the process for internal teaching & learning grants (such as the Lassonde Educational Equipment Fund (LEEF)) and providing feedback on applications to programs external to Lassonde (such as the Academic Innovation Fund (AIF)).
2.3. TEAL catalyzes the successful deployment of prioritized initiatives by: building stakeholder engagement, supporting pilot implementation, and embedding performance measures that will contribute to making recommendations about broader deployment. During pilot implementation, TEAL will play a critical role in ensuring required implementation and training resources are available to maximize the likelihood of success.
2.4. TEAL encourages the adoption of innovative approaches (and best-practices in higher education) in line with Lassonde academic priorities, by encouraging engaged faculty to share their experiences (novel practices and/or the results of pilot projects) to encourage wide scale adoption and maximize their impact on teaching and learning at Lassonde.

To engage our community in the development of Lassonde's Strategic Academic Plan (LSAP). The LSAP is a key document that expresses a set of our priorities and goals for the coming five-years, and in which we express our vision and values for the future of our Faculty. This is a part of the University Academic Planning process and essential for Lassonde.

You will hear more from us, the Lassonde committee responsible for shaping this foundational document: Planning, Academic Resources & Research (PARR). We will attend departmental meetings, Town Halls, Faculty Councils and online forums in order to advertise and spread the word of this effort. We hope to reach and hear from as many community members as possible.

In the months following your feedback, members of PARR and the Dean's office will draft the LSAP. Following draft completion, the community will be given an opportunity to provide feedback that will then be presented to the community to seek input on the document. This feedback and appropriate edits will shape the final document late in the winter semester.

Future emails will provide more precise dates and action items for each member of the Lassonde community. Action on your part will take place in the coming weeks leading up to the winter term.

WeekZero is not your average frosh week. York University prides itself on having the longest orientation in Canada, regularly having events for nine (9) days leading up to the start of classes. WeekZero provides incoming Lassonde students with a wide variety of events that allow you to make connections with your peers, learn about the opportunities on campus and prepare for your first (1st) academic term.

At WeekZero, you can be sure that you will find yourself in the Lassonde community. With a diverse student body that creates a wonderful mosaic of unique people, everyone can rest easy knowing that there is something for everyone. When joining WeekZero, you will have the chance to meet our great team of frosh leaders who are excited to welcome you to Lassonde with open arms.

At WeekZero 2022, students will be more connected than ever to our community. Starting in the last of August, we will be kicking off the countdown to WeekZero with weekly events such as speed friending, programming tutorials, program meetups, movie nights, and more.

As well, our WeekZero community is on Discord- a living, breathing and safe place to connect with other students and leaders between and during events.
